I agree.  Having terminal emulators default to calling themselves "login
shells" blurs the distintion between proper login shells and simple
interactive terminals.

People who can wrap their heads around the difference seem to have no
problem.

People who can't or won't wrap their heads around the difference can
customize their systems such that terminal emulators are login shells.

IMO, Debian should retain its tradition of optimizing for the case of
the knowledgeable user.
