Are you sure that xfs-xtt is running ?
I can see my truetype fonts in the listing from xfontsel.
It seems that your setup is correct by your mails, so
I don't know the cause of your problem. So the last thing
I can think of is that xfs process has not started on your
system. Try to use /etc/init.d/xfs-xtt start.
