This is a setting in your web browser. Please have a look at
http://www.debian.org/intro/cn for instructions on how to change it. Use
http://www.debian.org/intro/cn.en.html to go directly to the English version
if that does not work.
The second thing I like to say is that sans serif fonts are much better
for reading of large texts and in general.
I agree with you there. That is also a setting in your web browser. The
Debian web site does not specify fonts for the web page text body, so it
will use whatever your browser is configured to use.
