I have not read all the messages in May. So I missed the thread.
Renaming divs to something with "." is no good Idea.
I greped with find through the tree and think it is quite easy to
change the files and the references inside the tree. references from
outside still will point to the correct pages. so people will find,
what they search. Since I have edited so many files up to now, these
few cannot hurt me.
About the conflict:
IDs and names share the same namespace while classes have their own.
But a name cannot be accessed by css while an ID can. On the other
hand both can be linked (ID and name), and that possibly is the
reason why they share namespace.
