Sorry, I already did as stated in my last sentence.

I think you misunderstood my intention, and probably because I did two
things wrong in my first mail:

1) The subject line is not precise. I didn't want to change the policy
of security@debian.org mailing list in any manner (e.g. make them
subscribable for anybody). I just wanted to ask, if you might consider
it useful to find information, what security@debian.org actually is,
also on the page, where all other relevant mailing lists are mentioned
and described, i.e. http://www.debian.org/MailingLists/subscribe .

2) I had a typo, I wanted to write:
"As there are also lists mentioned on this page[...], which can _not_ be
subscribed by everybody, [...]"

To 1): I would consider it useful, to find this special piece of
information there. I heard about security@debian.org at
debian-security@lists.debian.org. So I wanted to find out more about it.
I think there are two ways to do it:
- Following the name "security", which will lead to the correct
information at http://www.debian.org/security/faq#contact .
- Following the character "mailing list", which will lead to
http://www.debian.org/MailingLists/subscribe, where you don`t find the
correct information. In my case this led to another question on
debian-security, which pointed me to the correct URL.

So all I want to achieve is to avoid that people following the
"character way" won't ask the same question on any mailing list again.

To 2) As there are already other lists on
http://www.debian.org/MailingLists/subscribe, which can't be subscribed
by everybody, I wonder what would be the downside of mentioning
security@debian.org there, too, if you state clearly (or link to), what
is written on http://www.debian.org/security/faq#contact?

If you're afraid that all developers will be flooded with irrelevant
mails, which should have been addressed to debian-security, I easily can
accept this. But if you write the exact same words as in
http://www.debian.org/security/faq#contact
I can't see, why one should be harmful, whereas the other shouldn't?
Are there other points I don't see?

O.k., I hope I made my purpose clearer this time. It's of course up to
you to weigh up.

Ciao
Siegbert

P.S.: Please keep me cc'ed, I'm not on the list.
