Recompressing as zips or uncompressing files would make our archives much
larger so that would not be viable.
It might be that you downloaded the files using the FTP ASCII mode or
something like that, which would cause the corruption. I suggest you
investigate your method of downloading, because nobody else reported a
similar problem.
