Because programmers who code mail address harvesting spiders are
(unsurprisingly) semi-morons who have never had a look at the HTML
standard, so their code skips over an encoded "mailto:";.

I've been doing the same thing on my homepage for a while, with good
results (one single spam mail to that address so far).
