Because some language could have another separator than whitespace?
I was suggesting to write instead
... width="40" height="27" alt="<dc_faq><sep>" border="0" ...
and put leading space in <sep> definition, which is equivalent.

I wondered whether they are intentional. If so, toplevel navigation bar
should be duplicated at the bottom in order for the links to be translatable.
