Why should we do that?
Please check:
klecker!joey(pts/3):/usr/share/doc/viewcvs/icons> imgsize *.gif
back.gif: WIDTH=16 HEIGHT=16
dir.gif: WIDTH=16 HEIGHT=16
text.gif: WIDTH=16 HEIGHT=16
So their size is 16x16 actually.
