Unfortunately MPEG-4 AAC is subject to patents forom VIA licensing that we do not have a license for, and the available license are non-free and require royalties. This makes Debian unable to distribute libfaad. This is of course my own conclusion, and may be wrong. Matthew W. S. Bell
