Yes, that's not direct, but nor is the hypothesis that "In the future, we can probably expect non-free to be the only way we can distribute such things as the GNU Manuals and Centrino wireless drivers" that I was responding to. How can any advocate of non-free say that there will never be free equivalents of these?
If my argument is too weak, so is the original. That's not great, but it's enough.

As you have pointed out before, the project and the distribution are different. I think the project is already not "DFSG-like free": it discriminates against certain fields of endeavour in some ways. It would be difficult to do otherwise. Your claim seems very obvious. I don't think the DFSG are supposed to apply to the project, only the distribution, but ICBW.
