A 32-bit Debian with a PAE kernel might also give the wanted result. If
so, it would ensure that the hardware isn't broken and that there seems
to be an issue regarding to Debain and 64-bit for some machines.

I need 64-bit for some of my programs. But nevertheless i will give the PAE kernel a try.
