Make sure that you are still a member of the lp group (and the lpadmin
group if you want to change the cups configuration without using the
root account).
I think that you probably have an incompatible mix of versions for some
relevant packages; please post the output of:
dpkg -l cups\* libcups\* ghostscript\* libgs? gs-\* | awk '/^i/{print $1,$2,$3}'
