Asus is fantastic! for a consumer-level board, especially their enthusiast line.

Asus sucks. Support is nonexistent; losing connection to a disk
all the time is unacceptable, especially for a board that expensive.
The fan on the board started making noise, unacceptable as well.

It was the first Asus board I bought for my own computer, and it was
the last one. Some time later we got computers with Asus boards at
work, and they had problems with losing connection to the disk as well.

Just don't buy Asus.

Did you read the whole post?

What do you mean, when you say "lose/lost connection to the disk"? I don't recall having anything like that ever happen. Sounds a bit like a cabling problem.

Fans are a problem for all consumer-level boards. I hate fans. Any fan that needs maintenance is not a fan for me. I am not a fan of fans that need any maintenance in their lifetime.

I had a deal with Asus boards where, if you made a change to the disk setup, like adding or removing a drive, the BIOS would change the default boot disk without asking. That was pretty obnoxious. But is was not a hardware problem.
