If you want complete control over your system, then that would be
expected. You have to balance things. If you want the fine control
you say you want, then you have to take the responsibility for checking
on info provided by apt. You knew iceweasel would replace firefox,
were told by someone, and would have been warned by apt. You were told
this would happen, then got upset when it did.

If you want fine control over something, that means fine inspection of
everything that happens. If you don't have time to read what happens
on the system, then you won't get fine control over it.
