Good question.
This is what is in my udev.rules:

BUS="usb", KERNEL="ttyUSB*", SYSFS{product}="Palm Handheld*", SYMLINK="pilot"
Now, I am not sure which of these would be used for a flash drive, but I can
tell that a few won't be....
