Ah, ok. So it is not assumed that anyone who creates a debian
package will make it available in the central repository....

Is that because of some policy enforcement for the 'official'
site that my system is searching by default? The comment on the
site implies that the problem is that the XV liscence
requires that it only be distributed in source form, but I don't
see why Debian could not, in that case, at least provide a
debian source package...

Ah - having installed it, I see that it is indeed the 'xlock'
application. The name change fooled me into thinking it was
some alternate screen locking program...
