I had the same problem and finally found the answer after a long google
search. The mouse is sending events through the "SendCoreEvents" as well
as the normal mouse events. Edit your XF86Config-4 and change
"SendCoreEvents" to "false". Worked for me!

I also tried commenting out the Generic Mouse and Configured Mouse, but
that did nothing to help.
