About all that's stored in my /home dir is my settings and a various files
I've saved there while experimenting. I still think and organize files in
the way I did on my first computer (an Apple //e with a 5 meg hd -- back when
I had no idea how I could fill up a 5 meg drive -- much less a 10 meg the
same company offered!). All my business files are backed up regularly
(thanks to rsync), and regularly burned to DVD or CD (on rotating media, with
one of the most recent copies stored here, and one in the safe deposit box).
My business stuff is on a separate computer which is set aside to do NOTHING
but the business. It can easily be yanked from my LAN and put into another
if I need to (I still don't have everything packaged so I can easily install
the system on a new machine). I don't want the whole thing in my /home dir,
and I don't want it on my workstation (since that's where I experiment if I
have time).

In this case, no, but after reading the above, I'm sure you can see why I
didn't worry about that. When I get back to writing, it'll be a different
story about where all my work is. Right now, though, with a program under
development, it's location can matter.
