athlon 64 Debian support

What is it that is not supported? kernel 2.6 can be built for the athlon64 and opteron? athlon64/opteron can run in pure64 and 32/64 bit combined mode. What makes it more difficult than just installing sarge and building the kernel for 64bit?

Bruno,

No need to over-emphasize. Woody does not support x86_64.
However, there is a project to support it in Sarge. Google
for it. If not, I'm sure that some helpful soul on this
list will provide a goid pointer.
