which is correct.
By running the
dpkg-reconfigure xserver-fress86
as you mentioned originally,
I got the following message;
Failed frontend initialization.:Kde
.....
....
Package 'xserver-free86' is not yet installed...
I have not xserver-free86 installed?
I used netinst CD image to install this
Debian.
