"Stable" has a variety of meanings. In Debian, it's essentially "unchanging." Doesn't actually mean it works, and some ofits component parts simply do no.

selinux is such a part.

As for downloading Sarge via a modem: I maintain three Sarge systems via a modem. One of the three is a desktop system, the others servers.


So; thanks for your hints; I'll try to contact HP to get an idea why the hpoj
software won't work together with "acient" (4 years old?) woody. There simply
must be a reason for that ...

Yeah. You need the work HP has done in the past four years.
