Well, just in case anyone is as ignorant as I am, I'll post this for archival
purposes: I changed the following lines in my /etc/modules.conf (which came
from a 2.4 kernel system)
printer ==> usblp
uhci ==> uhci-hcd
I think that's all, and it worked.
