tab completion in bash

Hi people,
i've been passively following the discussion on this mailing list and i have
to say, debian-user is a nice environment to stay (in connection to Mr.
Murdock's article on the future of Debian) :))
However, i here's my problem:
when i type a program name at the bash prompt and then auto-complete for a
filename by pressing <Tab> it deliberately (i think) selects only those files
that can be opened with the aforegoing program's name. Example, kuickview ->
.jpg, .gif etc.
Where can i tweak this bash behavior so that I could tell it to recognize .m2v
files as to be opened with mplayer, for example?
Regards,
Boris.
