ATI Radeon 7000 and GLX

OK, I've tried the dri packages at deb
http://people.debian.org/~daenzer/dri-trunk-sid/        ./

and I've tried googling for all the solutions presented on the list,
and I just can't seem to get OpenGL programs to work (either a black
box or X locks up).  Anybody whose got a Radeon, what's the trick to
getting GL stuff to work?
