I had a Dell OEMed G450 which was unable to drive both monitors at
1600x1200 (the second one would max out at 1280x1024). Turns out the
drivers hard-code the dotclock. :( I modified the opensource drivers,
but they cannot turn on the second monitor without the hal support.
The hal is closed source and refuses to allow the second monitor to be
driven at 1600x1200.

So, I got an ATI7500 based card from hercules. Same problem, but the
monitors were reversed. IE: I could drive the first monitor only to
1280x1024 while I could drive the second to 1600x1200...

So, I got a "real" ATI7500 ($20 more). That worked without problems
using the 4.2 xserver.

I don't know if the 3d stuff works, don't really care about that on my
linux box...
