Though I haven't seen the problem in galeon, I have with a recent
(within last few days) apt-get update in sid.  Something went awry, and
now evolution does the above.  I have resorted to putting this nasty
little hack into my .xsession file:

xmessage "Running oaf-slay until gnome2 and evo are fixed" &
oaf-slay -s
killall gconfd-2
gnome-session

Obviously, the xmessage is to remind me to check back on this from time
to time.
