Intel PRO100

Hi,
I am new to Linux. I am trying to get Intel® PRO/100 VE adapter working on
my newly installed box running Debian (woody) with kernel v2.2.20.
Release notes on
http://downloadfinder2.intel.com/scripts-df/Detail_Desc.asp?ProductID=407&Dw
nldID=2896
for the network adapter do not give detailed instructions for Debian.
Do I have to recompile kernel? Do I just compile e100 module and install it
using insmod. Could someone give me some pointers or recommendations as to
how do I go about making this NIC work on my Debian box.
