Well, A quick google search turns up a _lot_ of info which can be boiled
down to "run killev && oafslay && rm -rf /tmp/orbit-<your username>"
That (google) should always be your first course of action.

Barring that, the only thing I can think of is that gnome2 uses gconfd-2
and evo needs gconfd-1. try doing a killall gconfd-2 and then running
evolution (there is a similar problem with galeon)
