woody bf24 inst hangs

I was going to set
up Debian 3.0 (i386, non-us) on my computer.
When using bf24 to
boot, the system hangs after
I2O...
...
Compaq CISS Driver
(v 2.4.5)
Booting 2.2 kernel
(standard) is ok.
But I need the 2.4
kernel to use the vendor driver
for my AVM Fritz DSL
card.
Any
ideas?
