Okay, I'll bite.  Is /proc mounted? Can you 'cd /proc'?  If not the
/etc/fstab entry needs to be something like this:

# <file system> <mount point>  <type>  <options>  <dump>  <pass>
proc            /proc          proc    defaults   0       0
