I like xchat-text, I'm not sure which debian branch you need to be running to
get it though.
It helps if you've run the gui xchat first to get a config file, but it'll work
without one. xchat-text has a reasonably uncluttered display and at least one
blind user I know thinks its great (flashing status bars dont sound too good
through a screen reader). Shame theres no documentation for it though..
