I do not knoe ximin, but FYI:

If I were you I will do followings to find out how this is happening.

1. Boot up to single user mode. 
2. disable {xdm|gdm|...} from /etc/rc2.d/
3. Boot into runlevel 2 as usual but into console
4. Remove ximin from sources.list
5. apt-get update&&apt-get dist-upgrade

... Hope it fix all.  Unstable is not too bad, either. :)
