I have an apache_pb.gif. I'm running sid though.

check that your /etc/apache/httpd.conf has a line like:

ScriptAlias /cgi-bin/ /usr/lib/cgi-bin/

If thats doesnt fix things then I'd remove --purge and then reinstall
both apache and mailman.
