Re: stupid exim problems (NEWBIE-ish)

Hey,

my proxy server gives me a local email address (in my case, cmatheson@bowwow), i'm supposed to use that instead of the real thing (which is set up on my proxy
server). I use 'cmatheson@bowwow' for my email address, and 'bowwow' as my
SMTP and POP servers.

I changed that to 'bowwow', is that what I want?

they do have an error, here it is (a small portion):

2001-04-02 06:39:23 14jwLV-0000fy-00 == cmatheson@BowWow R=smarthost defer (-37)
: host lookup for bowwow did not complete (DNS timeout?)

2001-04-02 06:39:23 End queue run: pid=4000

2001-04-02 06:40:15 14k3ch-000135-00 == cmatheson3@yahoo.com routing defer (-42)
: retry time not reached

it says lookup for bowwow did not complete. I can ping bowwow, so I thought that was strange.
here's my resolv.conf and hosts files (if that matters):

#resolv.conf
search nofx.gnu
nameserver 192.168.1.3  #bowwow's IP address

#/etc/hosts
127.0.0.1       localhost
192.168.1.1 server.nofx.gnu server #linux server that has busted hard-drive
192.168.1.2     tux.nofx.gnu    tux                        # me
192.168.1.3     bowwow.nofx.gnu bowwow        # proxy server
192.168.1.4     slowpoke.nofx.gnu slowpoke        # old Windoze computer
192.168.1.5 elhefe.nofx.gnu elhefe #my friend's computer

Thanks for the help,
