I too had a similar problem and tnx to a hint from dman, I was able to
stop it from being echoed on to the console/screen.
The problem is with multi-casting and I suspect that all default kernel
2.4.x packages, come with this option either compiled in or moduled. I
could fix this by re-compiling my kernel and turning off the IP
Multicasting option under Networking options/TCP/IP networking.
