brahms and access to /dev/rtc
here's the message from brahms (midi sequencer):
jojda:~>brahms
/dev/rtc: Permission denied
jojda:~>ls -l /dev/rtc
crw-r----- 1 root root 10, 135 Mar 5 2000 /dev/rtc
what the implications of allowing users to access /dev/rtc. Is there
any problem letting users read /dev/rtc? security? other problems?
I set it to be world readable and here's another message:
jojda:~>brahms
Well - got no root rights, so the realtime clock rate is
64 Hz now, which may sound ugly sometimes
apparently it wants to change the realtime clock rate to something
more than 64 Hz.
what should I do?
1) change the group of /dev/rtc to rtc, chmod g+w /dev/rtc and add
users that would be allowed to run brahms to the rtc group?
2) use some other utility to set up different realtime clock rate?
(what would it be?)
thanks in advance
erik
