how to set max-lisp-eval-depth ?

hi,
A lot of packages for emacs while installation give the error "max-lisp-eval-depth exceeded" . For instance :

install/semantic: Handling install for emacsen flavor emacs19
Lisp nesting exceeds max-lisp-eval-depth
emacs-package-install: /usr/lib/emacsen-common/packages/install/semantic emacs19 emacs19 xemacs21 failed at /usr/lib/emacsen-common/emacs-package-install line 30.
dpkg: error processing semantic (--configure):
 subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 29

 How can one increase this default value ?
