Ok I fixed the problem myself. I realised that I was using the Ximian debian packages for gimp. I replaced gimp1.2 gimp1.2-perl and libgtk-perl with the original debian ones and it now works. Beware of ximian. Iain. -- public key available at http://www.minihub.org/~iain/iain.asc
