Hi

I've had the same problem a wile ago with a 2.2.x kernel(I think it was
2.2.12).
I've solved it by installing fbset and making a small script and calling
it from .bashrc.I was setting the resolution at 800x600 and that worked.
I had to call it from .bashrc since it was the only way I could get it
to work after login in a vt.(there may be other ways..this one worked).
 I'm not using anymore the fb so don't know how it works now.
