What board are you using? I have some experiance with
Athlon-Systems...

Do you have a good power-supply? Is it listed on the AMD-Athlon-page?

Did you check your memory? There are two good programs to do this:
memtest86 (should be found on freshmeat.net)
ctramtest (somewhere on ftp.heise.de)
