OK, so this one is for a 1280x1024x24bit display IIRC:
append = "video=matrox:vesa:443"
The general rule is that you've got to change the hex number listed in
/usr/src/linux/Documentation/fb/matroxfb.txt, change it to decimal
and replace 443 with that number...
