What I do is:
(1) in my regular user window, use "xhost + <my_host_name>"
(though I saw people not recommending this)
(2) in the window I su to other user, set the environment variable
DISPLAY:
(i) setenv DISPLAY <my_host_name>:0.0 (for tcsh)
(ii) DISPLAY=<my_host_name>:0.0 (for bash)
export DISPLAY
Then from that window I can open X applications.
I don't know of other better way of doing this....
