Posiblemente se refiera a tu /boot/boot.{algo}... En mi maquina:

gwolf@mipc:/boot$ file boot.*
boot.0200: ASCII text
boot.0300: x86 boot sector
boot.b:    data

De todos modos... Creo que vale la pena asomarse más a fondo en qué está
haciendo justo antes de mandarte el mensaje - ¿Te asomaste ya con strace
lilo?
