Deberías tenerlo en tu distribución,
$ dpkg -s xserver-fbdev
Package: xserver-fbdev
Status: install ok installed
Installed-Size: 1944
Maintainer: Branden Robinson <branden@debian.org>
Source: xfree86-1
Version: 3.3.5-1
Provides: xserver
Depends: xserver-common (>= 3.3.5), makedev (>= 1.6-8), libc6, zlib1g (>= 1:1.1.3)
Description: X server for framebuffer-based graphics drivers
xserver-fbdev is an X server that uses the kernel-based framebuffer device
driver for display.
.
To use this server, you must have a kernel that supports the framebuffer
console device. For the Alpha and i386 architectures, this capability is
absent from the 2.0 (and earlier) kernel series. Users of these
architectures must use version 2.2 or later of the Linux kernel to employ
this X server.
Respecto a la instalación, deberás recompilar el kernel para que soporte FB,
además de "tocar" la configuración de las X. Mira la sección "Screen" que
tengo yo:
Section "Screen"
Driver "fbdev"
Device "SVGA"
Monitor "SVGA"
Subsection "Display"
Modes "default"
Depth 16
# Modes "1024x768"
# Virtual 1024 768
EndSubsection
EndSection
