¡¡¡¡ ATENCION!!!! Distribución de Debian 2.0

Saludos:

Debian on CD

Debian GNU/Linux is a free operating system based on the Linux kernel.

Why Debian?

Debian is free software.
You get the source code for all programs, and you can give everything too your friends.

Debian is available for several architectures.
Debian 2.0 will be available for i386 and m68k, and development is going on for alpha, sparc and ppc.

Debian is upgradeable.
Debian's package management tools can upgrade a system while it is running. No reboot, minimal interruption of services.

Debian is maintained by volunteers via Internet.
If you don't like something in Debian you can bring your ideas into Debian.

Our CD's additional Features

We offer several versions of Debian on CD. Whenever you buy one these features will make it a good buy:
CDs are up-to-date.
In order to keep up with Debian's fast development we use recordable CDs (CDR). So we can ensure that you get the recent versions.

non-free and non-US section included.
We distribute these sections unless the licenses of the programs don't grant us the right to distribute it. See the list of packages that is included in our CDs.

contrib and experimental included.

Support for multiple binary CDs.
All the binary packages (precompiled programs) don't fit on one CD anymore. We made the install tool support more than one CD with binary packages.

Prices and Ordering

We offer these Debian versions:

If you're interested in getting one of these up-to-date CD sets use the use following form. Thank you.

Support

We not only sell our CDs, we provide commercial support for Debian and other (free) software too. Two well known Debian maintainers, net/system administrators, and spare time hackers are employed here. Please contact us if you want to know more about commercial support for your Debian GNU/Linux boxes or other Unices: heiko@datom.de. (Did you ever want to know who makes a Debian package from your software?)

Thanks

We already received some donations. Thanks to

  • Peter Mottram, UK
  • Matti Picus, Israel
  • Dirk Ritter, Germany
for donating money.

Questions and Answers

After getting the first responses we'll answer the most questions here:

What about updates
Yes, we plan to release incremental updates to our CD set. We will inform you when we're prepared to receive orders for updates.
How do I pay?
We'll send you the CDs with an attached invoice and expect your payment cash by snail mail within the following 14 days. If it's more convenient and/or cheaper for you, you may transfer the money to our bank account.
When will you ship the CDs?
As soon as possible. Currently the backlog isn't more than 24 hours.
Is the m68k architecture available?
Not yet. We are working on this. Our internet connection isn't the fastest :-(
What about archive integrity?
We always check the existence of the binary packages mentioned in Packages.gz. From now on (98-06-30) binary packages on the image has to pass the md5 check against the Packages.gz.

Known Problems

  • The dpkg-multicd methods doesn't recognize packages that are updated. This has been fixed today. An updated dpkg-multicd package is available: ftp://ftp.datom.de/pub/people/heiko/debian.
  • The installation procedure as supplied with the base system always assumes you have an /debian directory on your CD. Fix: Change /debian to / if you're asked. (Should happen twice.)

Title: Debian 2.0:

Debian 2.0

debian logo

We offer Debian 2.0 on 3 CDs:

Binary 1
This CD contains all binary packages of the main section. The CD is bootable; if your computer supports booting from CD you don't have to create installation floppies.
Binary 2
This CD contains the non-free, contrib, non-US and experimental binary packages and their source packages. In addition this CD contains some source packages that didn't fit on the third CD.

Due to license restrictions we cannot provide all packages from non-free and non-US on CD. For your information we have a list of the included non-free and non-US packages.

Source
This CD contains the source code of the main section. Because one CD is a bit too small for this we moved some parts to the second CD.

If you need Debian 2.0 for more than one architecture you can share the Source CD between architectures. Currently the m68k architecture might need only one binary CD, but this will change when all Debian packages will be recompiled for the m68k architecture. That's why we don't offer the binary CDs as an extra product. If you really need more architectures and you don't want two identical source CD please mention this in the order. We hope to find a way to save you some bucks.
