Da fuhrwerken ZWEI unterschiedliche $USER auf Deiner Kiste herum!
Ich gehe mal davon aus, das $HOME von deinem amd64 nicht das gleiche
ist, wie das $HOME von Deinem Chroot32.
Also mach mal in Deinem Chroot ein
mkdir /home
und dann wenn Du das Chroot wieder verlassen hast ein:
su - root -c "mount -t none /home ${CHROOT}/home -o bind"
dann sollte es auch gehen.
