Gnome2 (Sarge) startet nicht

Hallo,

nach dem ich von Woody mit Gnome1.4 auf Sarge mit Gnome2 umgestiegen bin,
lässt sich Gnome nicht mehr starten. X funktioniert problemlos u.a. mit
icewm als Fenstermanager. Wenn ich aber Gnome starten möchte, sehe ich nur
den Splashscreen und nichts weiter. Wenn ich das panel aus einem xterm
starten will, passiert nichts, nur folgende Meldungen erscheinen in
/var/log/messages:

Falls jemand eine Lösung für das Problem hat oder eine Idee, was ich noch
probieren könnte, würde ich mich freuen, so langsam verzweifel ich daran.
