Petite précision : quand on compile icedtea 1.7: 
http://icedtea.classpath.org/download/source/icedtea-1.7.tar.gz

on a droit à + de choses (le package ubuntu doit dater un peu). Par
exemple javaws qui est fort utile pour démarrer des application du web
