"apt-cache search python devel" donne tout plein de truc dont :
python-dev - Header files and a static library for Python (default)
python2.3-dev - Header files and a static library for Python (v2.3)
python2.4-dev - Header files and a static library for Python (v2.4)

l'un de ces 3 paquets fera certainement ton bonheur :-)
